da Vinci Robot Assisted Laparoscopic Surgery
The Da Vinci robotic system developed by the Californian company Intuitive Surgical Inc. was first marketed in 1999. Since then it has evolved to the present day, with the fourth generation Da Vinci being the most innovative platform.
At the Ruber Internacional Hospital we have the Da Vinci Xi robot, being this the most recent and avant-garde of the da Vinci robotic system.
What is DaVinci® robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery?
Unlike conventional laparoscopic surgery, where the surgeon operates directly with his hands, in this technique the surgeon is at a distance from the patient while performing the surgery. The hand movements performed on the robotic console are transmitted to the robotic arms and from there to the tip of the instruments.
This system provides a high-definition three-dimensional view of the surgical field, which allows for greater precision when performing complex surgical procedures and also provides the possibility of accessing anatomical areas that are difficult to reach.
What are the advantages of DaVinci® robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery?
What urological procedures are performed by DaVinci® robotic-assisted laparoscopic surgery?
There are multiple surgical procedures performed with this minimally invasive technique:
The key to treatment is to individualize each case and offer the best surgical approach for each patient.
